FFXI follows this rule as well: we have our share of cat-women running around the big world of Vana'diel we live in, stealing our NMs, taking over our farm spots, undercutting our crafting and so on.
Catgirls in general come with various forms and colors, they usually wear fancy dresses and have very colorful and trendy hairstyles. This doesn't apply to FFXI. We have only 1 type of catgirl:
People might tell you there are many hairstyles for each race in FFXI, don't believe them, this is the only one available to Mithras. Every Mithra has the short, white haired model, and you're not a real Mithra if you don't look like this.
FFXI describes them as cheerful and playful beings, although during my years of gaming, I can tell the Mithras usually fill in these categories:
1- The Manthra: is a guy who chose to be a Mithra for the most different reasons. He acts like a guy in game, talks like a guy, openly admits he's a guy. He wants to be a Mithra, but since there's no mithra males, he had to pick the female short white haired one.
2- The Fake Girl: is a guy who chose to be a Mithra so he could profit off the stupid Elvaan guys that fall for a cute butt every single time. Flirt with them, pretend you're a girl, send them cute emotes and make them feel important: you'll see a Haubergeon +1 magically pop in your delivery box. When you've obtained what you want, switch server and leave the guy hanging there and crying to himself at night, wondering where did you go.
3- The Real Girl: is a girl who chose to be a Mithra so she could be all cute and fluffy and sexy "=^.^= meooooooow". They're easy to spot: they suck ass at this game. You'll see them level BLM or SAM and wear the most weird shit ever, like STR rings on BLM and INT rings on SAM.
Since they suck at everything they do, they are usually forced to level WHM 'cause it's the only job that doesn't require thinking, and pretty much anyone can be a healbot. They usually come in pair with an Elvaan or Hume guy, being their in game fiancé, and you'll often see them sit on top of each other in Whitegate or any other crowded place while being both AFK.
4- The Lesbian: is a mix of #2 and #3. It's usually a guy who created a Mithra so he could cyber with other Mithras, possibly real girls behind a short white haired mithra character. They don't expose themselves very much and like to keep a low profile. They usually hang around not crowded places, like the house close to Maat in Ru'Lude Gardens, or the Tavnazian Safehold, or you can see them cuddling in some cute area in the middle of nowhere.
Beware of the Mithra.
